Travel & Accommodations

The Congolese Dance & Drum Workshop in Maui is held at the YMCA’s  beautiful Camp Keanae on Maui’s northern coastline. While meals, accommodations and all workshop activities are included in registration fees, participants are responsible for their own airfare and ground transportation to the camp. Those travelling to the workshop from the mainland, internationally or elsewhere in the islands should plan to fly into Maui’s Kahului Airport (OGG).

Ground Transportation

Participants have the option of renting a car or taking a taxi to get to and from Camp Keanae and Maui Kahului Airport. Kahului Airport provides taxi service to Camp for approximately $80. Accommodations

Camp Keanae’s lush campgrounds overlook the Keanae peninsula and offer indoor bunkhouses which sleep up to 125 people. A beautiful oceanside camping area has been designating for tent camping. All participants must provide their own bedding for indoor accommodations and/or their own tents if they wish to camp out under the stars.

Nearby attractions: The Keanae Peninsula, the Keanae Arboretum, the Black Sand Beach at Honomanu Bay and Hana Highway, one of the world’s most breathtaking and scenic drives.

Meals
Three fresh meals and nourishing snacks are served each day. Tasty and nutritious Congolese, Western and vegetarian meal options are prepared by our skilled kitchen staff to sustain participants as they dance and drum through the day.

Kindezi (Childcare)
In our village, children are encouraged to participate in this unique cultural experience. We have a wonderful team of experienced, loving childcare providers that supervise creative activities including arts and crafts, dance, drum and song classes to enrich and encourage creative expression in children. Children must be toilet-trained to participate. Kindezi is available during all adult classes, so that parents and children may do meaningful activities together or separately.

Spa Treatments
Professional  massage and other spa treatments are available for participants for an additional fee.
