Nice Articles and Other PR for CDDW

RECENT NEWSPAPER AND MAGAZINE FEATURE ARTICLES

There have been some really great articles in magazines and newspapers about the Congolese Dance & Drum Workshop. Here are a few of the most recent:

"unearthing Kongo," poem by Muisi-kongo Malonga, Kultural X-Zine,  June 2010, page 2.

"Ethnic Dance Festival Showcases Fancy Footwork," Allan Ulrich, Dance Critic, San Francisco Chronicle, June 8, 2010: "Young women dominated the afternoon's finale by Oakland's Fua Dia Congo, dancing to a commissioned score by the Cultural Heritage Choir. The suite, which melds Central African strains, abounded in earthy percussive encounters with the floor and vigorous torso action. I've never seen the company look better."

"Generations of Inspiration,"  Concious Dancer Magazine, Winter 2010. The Malonga family is one of three families featured in a beautiful article about passing on the rituals of movement and music through the generations. For the full text of the article, navigate to pages 18-20.

"Feeling the Rhythm: Coastsiders Learn Rhythms, Moves of a Far Away Culture," Stacy Trevenon, Half Moon Bay Review, Jan 27, 2010.  A really nice article about Sandor's Moss Beach drum & dance class. Check it out, then try the class for yourself!
