Lungusu Malonga, a born leader and visionary, was ushered into this world through Jeannie Ishman Brown and Malonga Casquelourd, who were both instrumental in establishing the presence of Congolese culture in America. Lungusu began performing at the age of nine and for more than fifteen years has studied, performed, choreographed and taught with a wide range of masterful artists, dancers and percussionists throughout the United States, Europe, Canada and Congo. Among them all, her father, Malonga Casquelourd, was her most influential teacher. Lungusu serves on both of her families' non-profit organizations as Assistant Artistic Director and Principle Dancer of Fua Dia Congo Performing Arts Company and as a member of the Executive Board of the Congolese Dance & Drum Workshop. Lungusu currently teaches Congolese dance classes throughout the San Francisco Bay area and is a guest lecturer/instructor at Stanford University, School of Medicine. Her weekly classes are held at the Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts. Come and enjoy!
