NEW: For 2010, there will be no summer CDDW workshop out of respect for our elders whose spirits have taken flight this year. However, dates have been set for the next Congolese Dance & Drum Workshop, to be held in Maui, Hawaii from Friday, Febuary 25 through Monday, March 7, 2011. Registration is now open for those who like to plan ahead (and begin shopping for cheap airfare).

Congratulations to the dancers of Fua Dia Congo Performing Arts Company for their inspired performances at the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival on June 5-6 at the palace of Fine Arts! Said the dance critic of the San Francisco Chronicle: "I've never seen the company look better." Wow! Special kudos go to Fua Artistic Director Muisi-kongo Malonga and master Congolese drummer Rodrique Tounta for an amazing show.
The sun has set on one of our brightest lights. A great source of wisdom, stability, strength and love, Ma Boukaka's spirit has taken flight. He now watches over us, guiding us from the great beyond.

For those who were not able to attend his funeral on April 3, 2010, who would like to pay their respects, Ma Boukaka is interred under a cypress tree, with a beautiful view of the Pacific, at Skylawn Memorial Park, 10600 Skyline Blvd., San Mateo, CA 94402.
